the first book i chose to read was sniper 1 by sgt dan mills, my review of this book is its amazing and i would recommend it to anyone, the account makes it feel like your there. hears a small account of what happens in the opening 4 paragraphs.
It was intended to be a peacekeeping tour, with the PWRR visiting local police stations to help the Iraqi police keep order in Al Amarah. But on their first foot patrol, our team were hit by a grenade thrown from an Iraqi police station being used by supporters of Moqtada al-Sadr, the OMS. What should have been a peacekeeping tour turns out to be a constant back-and-forth battle that lasts for months.

I’d be interested to know what you think this book taught you about conflict in war. How does it approach some of the bigger questions like: The point of war, How things can go out of control, the difference between the image of war and the reality, and the attitude towards the ‘enemy’
You’ve made a good start, Harry.
